I know HTML and I'm now learning CSS, but I don't know what other languages I should learn to do web design.

I would like to learn how to make those shopping carts and such, but with so many programming languages to choose from, where do you start? I was thinking about PHP, but what do I know. Are there any languages you feel are essential to doing web design?

Any suggestions?

Yea I'm going to learn php over the holidays It will be really useful, I suggest you do the same

HTML and CSS are the only things you can really use to design the look of a site, so I use both of those. As for the backend, I only know PHP, but I think its a great language.

Ya, javascript is one thing I wish I knew better, especially with the emergence of web 2.0 technologies.
